OBITUARY: Monticello Resident Dies Last Friday Mrs. William Oldfield is found dead at wheel of car Mrs. William Oldfield, 46, died suddenly at about 2:30 PM last Friday as she was preparing to drive the family car. She had been in poor health for several months but her condition was not considered as serious. A heart attack was believed to have been the cause of her death. Mrs. Oldfield was found slumped behind the steering wheel of the car by her husband. She had backed the car from the garage into the driveway preparatory for an afternoon visit. Nellie Cornelius was born Jan. 11, 1891 in Bement. On Dec. 7, 1914 she married William Oldfield, of Monticello in St. Louis. Since her marriage she spent the remainder of her life in Monticello with the exception of nine years spent in Ohio. She was a member of the Ladies G. A. R. the Royald Neighbors and the Rebekahs. Funeral services were held Sunday in the M. E. Church with Rev. Thomas Tull officiating, and the Ladies of the G. A. R. in charge. Interment was in the Bement Cemetery with the Faith Funeral Home in charge. Besides her husband she leaves her father, Henry Cornelius, Olney; one sister, Mrs Maggie Kemp and one brother Otis of Maringo, Ohio.
OBITUARY: - Mrs. Nellie Cornelius Oldfield died at her home three miles west of Monticello, on Friday afternoon, May 28, at 2:30 PM. She was born in Bement January 11, 1891. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cornelius. Mrs. Oldfield was a member of the Christian Church of Bement. She was a member of the Ladies of the G. A. R., Royal Neighbors, and Rebecca Lodges. Besides her husband and father she leaves a sister, Mrs. Maggie Kemp and a brother, Attis Cornelius of Maringo, Ohio, three nephews and two nieces and a host of friends to mourn, her loss. Mrs. Oldfield's mother and sister and a brother preceded her in death. She was a good neighbor and a friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by everyone.
