Saloma (stepchild) Jacob and Peter. He served in the military during theWar of 1812. He was a Tailor. He died on 24 Mar 1830 in Marcy, Madison Twp., Pickaway Co., Ohio. He was buried in Mar 1830 in Salem's Church, Bloom Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio.4036,4061 His Ancestral File Number is FP1G-N5.47 This Anniversary Book, a gift from the Cetta (or Cotta, I couldn't read the second letter), is dedicated to the sons and daughters of Trinity Lutheran church at Marcy, Ohio--the Anniversary Sunday of November 18, 1956. 150 years of Lutheran heritage will be a new cornerstone in the hearts of these sons and daughters.

HISTORY OF TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, MARCY, OHIO. The history of Trinity Lutheran church at Marcy, Ohio dates back as far as the year of 1856. Prior to that time we find the pioneer Lutherans for miles around, came to worship on foot, horseback and in wagons, to the Salem church, also known as the Glick church, Brick church, and today the Hoy Memorial E.U.B. church. When the pioneers moved westward in the last decade of the eighteenth century, and in the decade of the nineteenth century, they brought with them the desire to continue their worship of their God in a house set aside for this purpose. This was especially true of the Lutherans who settled in Bloom Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. These early settlers selected a suitable site for a church, and at once erected a log church. This was known as the Glick church, and was the first in Bloom Township. It was in the year of 1806, that a group of German pioneers came from the Dutch settlement of Union and Berks County, in Pennsylvania to Bloom Township, Fairfield County, to settle on congress land. One of their number, Peter Glick, was ill when they reached their journey's end. At the camp ground near the new home where the Glick church was later built, he said "This would be a good place to be buried:--and his grave is on the spot he selected, across the road in front of the church. He died in 1808 and the inscription on his tombstone is still legible today. From 1807 this little log church was used for worship services on alternate Sundays by the Lutherans and Reformed congregations, as was the custom on those early days. Some Lutheran services were held at the Glick church as late as 1903. They discontinued their worship there and transferred their membership to Trinity, St. Johns and David's in Canal Winchester,Ohio. From available material, it is believed that the pioneers of Old Joint Synod served this congregation. They did not enjoy the service of a regular pastor until the year 1816, when Michael Steck became a regular pastor, until 1825. He was succeeded by John Wagenhals, who many years later went to Circleville, Ohio. Carl Wernel was pastor until 1854. Peter Erich substituted for awhile and then took over the pastoral duties in 1854. Of the first three pastors, little is known. Pastor Erich was associated with Dr. Loy while he was pastor of Delaware, Ohio. Pastor Erich's name heads the list of graduates from the seminary at Capital.
