Merle Robert Thomas, age 78, of Bremen, entered into eternal rest at his home
on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 after a long battle with lung cancer.
Merle was born May 27, 1927 in Lancaster, to the late Ben Walter and Hazel Clara (Guseman) Thomas. Merle was a veteran of WWII. He spent many years as a farmer and retired from the State of Ohio in March, 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary C. (Reynolds) Thomas; children, Cherly (Robert) Maggio of Dayton, Chad (Teresa) Thomas of Bremen, Ben (Cori) Thomas of Thornville, Christi (Randy) McNeely of Junction City, Doug (Ruth) Bell of Philo, Diane (Todd) Arledge of Bremen, Barbara (Ray) Gerren of Athens, and Don (Jana) Bell of Duncan Falls; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special brother and sister-in-law, John (Gay) Reynolds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Wednesday at the Snyder-Sheridan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St., Bremen.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Terry Borah officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.
