OBITUARY: Lancaster Eagle Gazette July 15, 1994. Vernon Barnes, 83, Millersburg, formerly of Lancaster, died Thursday, July 14, 1994, at his residence. He retired as a machine operator from Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., after 40 years of service, past president of Rushville Lions Club, lifetime membership award from Millersport Lions Club and member of Millersport United Methodist Church. He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Mildred S.; eight daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Thompson of Pleasantville, Nonie and Ted Henwood of Lancaster, Jeanette and Frank Daubenmire of Millersport, Carol and Elton Monosmith of Edgerton, Connie and Don Smith of Reynoldsburg, Rita Beach of Pataskala, Vicki and Rich Pinkstock of Millersburg and Pam and Russ Kovalchik of Akron; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Ellen Barnes of Gahana and Lowell and Betty Barnes of Millersport; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Andrews of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Barnes; seven brothers; and grandson, Timothy Henwood. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday in Frank E. Smith Funeral Home chapel with Mike Willis officiating. Burial will be in West Rushville Cemetery. Friends may visit from 7 to 9 P.M. today and until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Millersport Lions Club and Rushville Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7 P.M. today at the funeral home.
