Mrs. Dorothy Kalklosch, nee Rorghberg, wife of Mr. Tobias Kalklosch, departed this life June 21, 1885, at her late residence in Benton Township [this would be in Hocking County Ohio. -JOjr]. Deceased was born April 25, 1815, at Horn Sia-----, in the Province of Saxony, Prussia.
In the early infancy she was given to the Lord through the sacrament of Holy Baptism, and at the age of 14 years was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. When about 18 years of age, she, with her parents emigrated to the United States and in 1835, came to Ohio, settled in Muskingum County. In November 1836, she was married to Mr. Tobias Kalklosch. This union was blessed with 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls, of whom, however, one boy and one girl have preceded her in eternity. In the fall of 1841 Mr and Mrs Kalklosch with two children came to Hocking County, having thus been residents of same for nearly 40 years. The deceased enjoyed always good health until late years the marks of old age became visible. She died at the above stated date at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 26 days. A bereaved husband, 8 mournful children and 26 grandchildren mourn their loss. The funeral took place Monday afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. L.F. Mittler.
After an appropriate address in both English and German languages the earthly remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ewing, Ohio, to await the summons from on high at the resurrection morn. May God comfort the bereaved family.
