Taps were sounded for Allen Oldfield, for years a resident of this city, at his home at Breckenridge Missouri, on Wednesday of last week. For many years the deceased had been an almost helpless invalid and for a number of years resided in this city until two years ago when he moved to Breckenridge, following the death of his beloved wife. He made his home in the west with his son-in-law, Mr. A. L. Sanderson at Breckenridge. On Saturday the remains of this excellent former citizen arrived in Logan for interment. The burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. A short religious service was conducted by Rev. T. B. White. The body was accompanied to Ohio by a son, Hilas Oldfield, of Adair IL and son-in-law, A. L. Sanderson of Breckenridge Missouri. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and served his country with honor and distinction in her time of dire need. The following abbreviated biography tells the story of this good man's life: Allen W. Oldfield was born in WV April 11, 1835. In the year of 1841 he moved with his parents to Ohio. He was unified in marriage to Mahala Spring in the year of 1856. To this union were born 11 children, 7 sons and 4 daughters, 8 of whom 6 sons and 2 daughters survive him. In 1858, he and his wife were converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church on Kingston Circuit in Pickaway Co., Ohio. On the 10th day of August 1862, he was enrolled in Co. G, 90th Regiment, Ohio Infantry Volunteers, and was discharged, January 10, 1865. His wife died in 1874 and on December 25 1878 he was married to Elizabeth Stroop. In September 1906 he buried his second companion, after which he came to Missouri and made his home with his daughter, Mrs A. L. Sanderson. Mr Oldfield was an invalid for 26 years. He died at the home of his daughter, March 18, 1908 aged 72 years, 11 months and 7 days.

LANCASTER WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF 89
28 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren survive. ----- Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, 89 died yesterday at 6:10 p.m., at her home on 131 Pierce Avenue. Demise being due to infirmities caused by age. The deceased is survived by eight children, Mrs. William Good and Mrs. Etta Woodring of Lancaster, Mrs. William Prindable of Kingston Ohio, Mrs. Jennie Finnerty and George E. and Harvey Thomas of Circleville Ohio. Twenty eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren also survive. The husband of the deceased died thirty five years ago.
