He died on 11 Aug 1894 in Cedar Grove, Benton Twp., Hocking Co., Ohio. He was buried on 12 Aug 1894 in Cemetery at Ewing, Hocking Co., Ohio. OBITUARY: Tobias Kalklosch was born in Saxony, Germany, May 31, 1808. At the age of about 4 years, he and one sister lost their father, leaving their mother to care for them. She, however, succeeded in supporting and educating him and at the age of 14 years he united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and sustained said relationship during life. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Russian army serving 6 1/2 years after receiving his discharge he returned home and engaged in the butcher business. In the year 1836 he came to this country settling in Muskingum County, Ohio, where he formed the acquaintance of Miss Dorothy Rohrberg, whom he married in 1837. This union was blessed with 10 children, six boys and four girls one boy and one girl preceded him. In November 1841, Mr Kalklosch settled in the wilds of Benton Township, Hocking County, one mile north of Cedar Falls, where he begun clearing his farm and by industry and economy he succeeded in making ample provisions for his family, but in June 1885, he was called to mourn the loss of his companion. The health of the deceased was reasonably good until the last two years during which time he became feeble and infirm but being able to be around until a few days before his death which occurred on the 11th day of August, 1894, at the age of 86 years, two months and 11 days. He leaves eight children, 37 grandchildren and one great grand child to mourn their loss, but we hope our loss is his eternal gain. His funeral took place at his old residence August 12, 1894, at 11 o'clock. After a splendid discourse his remains were laid to rest until the resurrection mourn, in the cemetery at Ewing, Ohio, Rev. Mather officiating. Thus we lose a father, a friend, one that cannot be restored to us again. - Spouse: Dorothea M. ROHRBERG. Tobias KALKLOSCH and Dorothea M.
