She died on 26 Apr 1887 in Cedar Grove, Benton Twp., Hocking Co., Ohio. OBITUARY: Mrs Charlotte Williams was born October 8th, 1811, near the city of Baltimore, Maryland, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs William Oldfield, at Cedar Grove, Ohio, April 26, 1887, aged 75 years, 6 months, and 18 days. Mrs Williams emigrated with her parents, when a small child, to Ohio, and settled in Muskingum county. She was united in marriage to Gurden Williams, May 13th, 1836, and in 1838 moved with her husband to Hocking county, and were amongst the first settlers on Queer Creek. At 18 years of age she was converted and united with the New School Baptist Church, in New Concord, Ohio. After she came to Hocking county, she united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Cedar Grove. Sister Williams was eminenttly pious and led a consistent, Christian life. She always manifested a most liberal spirit for all denominations of Christians; willingly working with them in their meetings and efforts to save sinners and nothing, seemingly, did her more good than to see penitents coming to the altar of prayer seeking salvation from sin. During her protracted sickness she was cheerful and happy; her confidence and faith in Christ, her Savior was strong and unshaken up to her last moments. Her husband, who was also a member of the Baptist Church, preceded her to the better country 17 years. Mrs. Williams was the mother of seven children; two joined their father in the spirit land some years ago, five remain, with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, to mourn their loss. Rev. A. B. Wetherby preached a very appropriate funeral sermon, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church to a large number of sympathizing friends, from Job 19, 25 and 26. The bereaved need not mourn as those without hope, they may meet again to part no more; and our prayer is, that they make choice of and trust in the same Savior, that they may all enjoy the same reward.
